The Malta Football Association is preparing to honour the very best in local football during its annual MFA Awards Night. A total of 22 awards will be presented, celebrating excellence at all levels of the game in what promises to be one of the most inclusive and wide-reaching editions to date.
Among the standout honours are the Footballer of the Year awards for both men and women. These top accolades are reserved for the most influential and consistent performers of the season, recognising not only technical quality but also leadership and overall contribution to their clubs and national teams.
Also attracting significant attention will be the Best Goal of the Year award. This prize celebrates the most outstanding and memorable goal of the season, one that combined technical brilliance with impact. Meanwhile, the Coach of the Year award will commend strategic vision, success, and the ability to elevate a squad throughout the season.
The awards night will place strong emphasis on youth development. The Assikura Best Youth League Player for women and the Best Youth League Player for men will highlight two young athletes who have emerged as future stars. In addition, the BOV Best Young Player of the Year will be given to a breakout talent who has transitioned seamlessly into senior football and made a major impact.
Strikers and goal-getters will also be recognised with a range of top scorer awards. The honours will go to the leading scorers in the 360 Sports Malta Premier League, the BOV Challenge League, Amateur League 1 and 2, and the Assikura Women’s League. These awards acknowledge consistency and finishing ability across a full competitive season.
Recognition will also be extended to the BOV Challenge League Best Player. This award celebrates a player whose performances in Malta’s second tier have set him apart for skill, reliability, and influence on the pitch.
Two prestigious honours will acknowledge long-term service and exceptional contribution to the Maltese game. The President’s Award will honour an individual who has made a lasting impact, while the Hall of Fame will celebrate the legacy of a footballing figure whose influence continues to be felt across generations.
The Foreign Player of the Year award will go to the standout international footballer currently playing in the Maltese domestic leagues, celebrating the growing influence and quality of foreign talent.
One of the evening’s most anticipated segments will be the announcement of the Best XI of All Time. This symbolic lineup brings together legends of the Maltese game into a dream team, honouring careers that have inspired players and fans alike.
Special mentions will also be made through the Gozitan Achievement Award, recognising talent and success from Gozo, and the Fair Play Award, which celebrates sportsmanship and respectful conduct in competition.
Completing the list are the Football Social Responsibility Award, which honours positive initiatives and community engagement through football, and awards for the Best Players in Amateur League 1 and 2.
