Under-19 national team coach Vasco Regini has called up a 27-man squad for back-to-back friendlies away to Latvia, his first window in charge of the age group. The matches will be played at the J. Skredela Stadium, Riga on Friday 5 September (16:00 CET) and Sunday 7 September 2025 (11:00 CET).
Regini’s selection blends a strong domestic core with several overseas-based players and is designed to sharpen Malta’s readiness for the 2026 UEFA European U19 Championship Qualifiers. Malta have been drawn in Group 13 alongside Czechia, Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan, with the qualifying mini-tournament scheduled for November 2025.
Malta’s U19S will use the Riga double-header to test combinations, hand minutes to emerging prospects, and bed in the staff’s game model ahead of the autumn qualifiers.
