The 2025 edition of the Ġammari Muscat Pre-Season Tournament, hosted by Mosta FC, got off to a competitive start at the Charles Abela Memorial Stadium, with early fixtures from both groups already offering a glimpse into the shape of Maltese Premier League clubs ahead of the new season.
In Group A, Mosta began their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Naxxar Lions . The hosts managed to secure all three points in a closely contested match, giving them a strong start in their group. Earlier that evening, Gżira United and newly-promoted Tarxien Rainbows played out a 1-1 draw, with both teams earning a point in their opening fixture.
Group B matches are taking place today, July 12. Marsaxlokk face Sliema Wanderers in the early kick-off, while newly-promoted Valletta take on Żabbar St. Patrick in the late match. Both encounters are expected to provide further insight into the squads’ progress during pre-season preparations.
This year’s edition of the tournament features eight Maltese Premier League clubs split into two groups. Group A consists of Mosta, Naxxar Lions, Gżira United and Tarxien Rainbows, while Group B includes Sliema Wanderers, Marsaxlokk, Żabbar St. Patrick and Valletta.
Running between July 11 and August 9, the Gammari Muscat Tournament serves as an important warm-up competition for top-tier Maltese clubs. Named in honour of Gammari Muscat, a prominent figure in Mosta FC’s history, the event provides clubs with an opportunity to assess new signings, test tactical setups and build momentum ahead of the upcoming league season.
Further matches will continue in the coming weeks, leading to the knockout stages and culminating in the final scheduled for early August.
