Mazzotta names 25 player Malta U21 squad for Germany and Latvia qualifiers

Malta Under 21 coach Davide Mazzotta has named a 25-player squad for the UEFA European Under 21 Championship qualifiers against Germany and Latvia.

Malta travel to Germany for their second away assignment of the campaign on Friday, 14 November 2025 at the Sportpark Ronhof Thomas Sommer Stadium in Fürth, with kick-off at 18:00 and live coverage on TVMi.mt. The squad then returns to home soil to face Latvia on Tuesday, 18 November 2025 at the Centenary Stadium, with kick-off at 19:00.

Mazzotta’s group has already faced three demanding fixtures in this qualifying cycle, and the upcoming matches offer another chance to show progress, resilience and cohesion against strong opposition. The coaching staff will be looking for disciplined team shape, composure in possession and sharper decision-making in both penalty areas as the side continues its development on the international stage.

The goalkeepers selected are Liam Frendo of Valletta, Karl Sargent of Gzira United, Hugo Sacco of Hibernians and Jake Scicluna of Marsa. The defenders are Deacon Abela of Gzira United, Nathan Cross of Birkirkara, Ivin Farrugia of Mgarr United, Benjamin Hili of Balzan, Jake Micallef of Zabbar St Patrick, Kean Scicluna of Zabbar St Patrick, Jake Vassallo of Mosta and Aiden Zammit of Hibernians. The midfield unit features Jake Azzopardi of Valletta, Andrew Borg of Gzira United, Bjorn Buhagiar of Gudja United, Lucas Caruana of Hibernians, Jake Grech of Balzan and Daniel Letherby of Hamrun Spartans. The forwards are Nicholas Agius of Zabbar St Patrick, Aston Ellard of Barnsley in England, Shaisen Attard of Hamrun Spartans, Keyon Ewurum of Valletta, Sean Gatt of Santa Lucia, Joshua Pitts of Ipswich Town in England and Gabriel Vella of Tarxien Rainbows.
