Melita have moved closer to winning the BOV Challenge League as on Saturday they defeated Żabbar SP 2-0. With two games to the end of the seasons Melita have now opened a six point lead and now need only one point to be mathematically crowned BOV Challenge League 2023/24 Champions.
Both Melita and Żabbar SP have already managed to secure their promotion to top league football next season after they both cannot be reached in the table by the other four teams forming the Top six, namely Żurrieq FC, Marsa FC, Senglea A and Pieta H.
Melita secured this win against Żabbar in Saturday at the Centenary Stadium thanks to two goals scored in the second half by Jesus Andres Yepez Morlets on the 56th minute mark and another one by Matthew Debattista ten minutes later with a shot from outside the area. This was the first time that Clive Mizzi’s side managed to win against Żabbar this season as the previous two encounters resulted in a 1-1 draw and a 4-0 win for the Yellow-Blacks.
Melita can celebrate the 2023/24 BOV Challenge League Championship if they manage at least to register a draw in their next encounter against Marsa FC this Saturday.
