Challenge League match abandoned following serious collision between two Fgura United players

There were worrying scenes at the end of the Challenge League match between Fgura United and St Andrew’s at the Centenary Stadium, as two Fgura players were taken to hospital following a serious collision.

Dylan Caruana and Alan Abdel Rahman accidentally clashed heads in the 88th minute of the match. Medical staff quickly rushed onto the pitch to treat both players before they were taken to hospital for further checks.

At the time of the incident, Fgura United were leading 2-0. However, following the collision and the lengthy medical assistance required, referee Raiden Psaila decided to abandon the match in the 90th minute.

The incident caused concern among teammates, staff and supporters inside the stadium. Both players received treatment on the pitch, and it was decided they should undergo to hospital for further examinations.

After the match, both clubs released statements showing their support during what has been a difficult moment.

“In an unfortunate incident at the end of the Challenge League clash between Fgura United and St Andrew’s, which was played at the Centenary Stadium, two of our players collided with their heads, with the consequence that they needed to be taken to hospital for further care.
