The coach of Roma, Jose Mourinho, believes that his team has its chances in the final of the Europa League.
Roma will seek the second European trophy in a row in the duel against Sevilla, who have won this competition six times.
“We had a long road to the final, different from our rival who arrived from the Champions League. We played 14 games and we deserved to be here,” Mourinho pointed out at the beginning and added:
“I say – history does not play, my colleague thinks differently. He thinks that Sevilla is the favorite because history says that and I respect that. For them, playing the Europa League final is almost a normal phenomenon, for us it is a special event. For their fans, the trip to the final is almost the same as matches in Primera, for ours – it’s historic. Sevilla have 25 great players, many options, but they don’t know my boys and they don’t know my team. And he knows how to win.”
“Special” believes that the mentality of the team can make up for the lack of experience.
“The coach does not play the final, but the players on the field. That’s why I told my professional staff that our work is finished today and now the boys are making their own story and writing history. Maybe the Sevilla players have more experience, but my team has been together for two years. Everything will be solved on the field, we have our goal, our dreams,” said Mourinho.
The match between Roma and Sevilla will be played on Wednesday at 21:00 in Budapest.
