West Ham United have confirmed the dismissal of head coach Graham Potter following a disappointing run of form that has left the club 19th in the Premier League table.
Potter, who joined the Hammers in January on a two-and-a-half-year deal after replacing Julen Lopetegui, managed just six wins in 25 games across all competitions. His only victory since August came in a 3-0 away win against Nottingham Forest, surrounded by a string of poor performances including five defeats.
A club statement released on Saturday read:
“Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.”
The club also confirmed the departure of assistant coach Bruno Saltor, first team coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, lead goalkeeper coach Casper Ankergren, and goalkeeper coach Linus Kandolin with immediate effect.
The search for a new manager is already underway. Former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has been linked with a return, but former Wolves and Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo is currently the leading candidate and could be appointed before Monday night’s match against Everton.
A caretaker manager has yet to be named.
West Ham have taken just three points from their first five Premier League matches this season, with last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace proving to be the final straw for the club’s board.
