Arsenal extend unbeaten run against Everton with late goals

Arsenal F.C. secured a 2-0 victory against Everton F.C. in the Premier League after two late goals at the Emirates Stadium, with substitute Max Dowman playing a decisive role.

The result temporarily moves Arsenal ten points clear at the top of the league table and extends their unbeaten run against Everton to seven matches in all competitions.

Arsenal created the first opportunity of the match from a short corner routine. Declan Rice played the ball to Noni Madueke, whose attempt was saved by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The home side continued to apply pressure during the early stages, with attempts from Riccardo Calafiori and Martín Zubimendi blocked by Idrissa Gueye.

Further chances followed as Calafiori, Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze each failed to hit the target. Everton responded with opportunities of their own, with Dwight McNeil denied by a close range block from Calafiori before striking the post from distance.

The match remained competitive throughout the first half. Eze attempted a shot from range that struck Zubimendi, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall forced a save from Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. Arsenal were forced into a change in the 38th minute when Jurriën Timber left the field with an injury.

After the interval Everton continued to threaten. Beto was denied by Raya, while Saka and Calafiori saw attempts blocked by Michael Keane. Pickford also saved another effort from Saka as Arsenal searched for an opening.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta introduced Viktor Gyökeres and Gabriel Martinelli after the hour mark in an attempt to increase attacking options. Eze came close to breaking the deadlock with a curling effort that went just wide.

The breakthrough eventually arrived in the 89th minute. Dowman delivered a cross that Pickford failed to claim, and the ball deflected off Piero Hincapié into the path of Gyokeres, who finished from close range.

Dowman then added a second goal shortly afterwards. The 16 year old ran forward after Everton had committed players to an attacking corner and scored from distance into an empty net, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history.

The win represents Arsenal’s fourth consecutive league victory. It also ends Everton’s run of three matches without defeat.
