West Ham United F.C. came from behind to draw 1-1 with Manchester City F.C. in the Premier League, ending a run of seven consecutive defeats in meetings between the two clubs.
The result strengthened West Ham’s position in the battle to avoid relegation, while Manchester City dropped points in the race for the league title.
Manchester City, managed by Pep Guardiola who was serving a touchline ban, dominated possession from the early stages. The visitors controlled the tempo and pushed West Ham deep into their own half, although clear chances were limited in the opening period.
West Ham’s defence held firm during the early pressure, with Jarrod Bowen tracking back to challenge Rayan Aït Nouri inside the penalty area. At the other end, Omar Marmoush attempted a free kick that went wide of the target.
The first shot on target arrived in the 31st minute and resulted in the opening goal. Marmoush played a pass into Bernardo Silva, who lifted the ball over West Ham goalkeeper Mads Hermansen and into the far corner.
West Ham responded quickly and equalised four minutes later. Bowen delivered a corner that was met by Konstantinos Mavropanos, whose header struck the crossbar and crossed the line.

Manchester City created another opportunity before the interval when Erling Haaland set up Antoine Semenyo, but the effort went just wide of the post.
City continued to push forward after the break, although West Ham remained organised defensively. Guardiola introduced substitutes including Rayan Cherki and Jérémy Doku in an attempt to regain the lead.
Cherki soon created a chance for Haaland, but Hermansen produced a save to divert the ball wide. Further attempts from Abdukodir Khusanov and Doku missed the target, while Mavropanos blocked a shot from Matheus Nunes.
Manchester City continued to press during the final stages. Tijjani Reijnders saw a free kick tipped onto the crossbar by Hermansen, who also saved a header from Nico O’Reilly.
Mavropanos produced further defensive interventions late in the match, blocking attempts from Haaland and O’Reilly as West Ham held on for the draw.
The result leaves Manchester City nine points behind league leaders Arsenal F.C., although they have played one match fewer. West Ham, meanwhile, remain outside the relegation zone and have lost only one of their last seven matches in all competitions.
