Arsenal moved nine points clear at the top of the Premier League after beating Sunderland 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
Sunderland started well and almost took the lead early on, but Arsenal grew into the game and took control. Martín Zubimendi opened the scoring with a powerful shot that went in off the post, giving the hosts the lead before half-time.
In the second half, Viktor Gyökeres doubled Arsenal’s advantage shortly after coming on as a substitute. He then added a second goal in stoppage time to complete the 3-0 win.
The result means Arsenal remain unbeaten at home against promoted sides for 44 games, a new Premier League record. Sunderland have still never won away at Arsenal since 1983.
