United attacker speaks out on shock 7-0 loss to Liverpool and looks ahead to Europa League clash with Real Betis
Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has spoken out about his team’s devastating 7-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. Despite the crushing defeat, the Portuguese midfielder remains confident that his team will bounce back quickly, starting with Thursday’s Europa League last-16 first leg with Real Betis.
Speaking to Sky Sports News after the match, Fernandes acknowledged that the result was “really frustrating, disappointing and sad,” but insisted that United must move on quickly and focus on their upcoming games.
“The second half wasn’t at our level and we gave too much space away, we gave too much time and counters to them and we know how much of a threat they are from that,” Fernandes said. “It was not [up to] our level and we know how much better we can be and how much quality we have. We have to focus now on the next game and get a result back.”
Fernandes also addressed criticism from former United captain Gary Neville, saying that his team cannot allow the humiliating result to derail their season.
“This is what Manchester United is about, we can go down but we have to go back. We know how good we are and we know that, today, we didn’t show and perform at our level,” Fernandes said. “We know that this team is really good and it can do really good things, today was not the case, but I am pretty sure this team can do great things.”
Despite the loss, Manchester United remain third in the Premier League table, with four points separating them from fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and seven points clear of Liverpool in fifth. With the Europa League and FA Cup still within their reach, Fernandes believes that his team can get back on track and achieve success this season.
As fans, we know that setbacks are a part of the game, and the true test of a team’s strength lies in how they respond to adversity. With Fernandes’ positive attitude and the team’s fighting spirit, Manchester United is sure to come back stronger and better than ever.
