Tampere, a Finnish city, will be one of four host cities for the group stage of the 2025 European Championship, which will be jointly limited by Finland, Latvia, Cyprus and Poland, the European branch of FIBA announced today.
The matches will be played in the “Tampere Deck Arena”, which was opened in 2021. The hall can accommodate more than 11,000 fans.
“The tournament in Helsinki was memorable. It will be a great pleasure and honor for us to do the same in Tampere. This city has shown that it is capable of organizing high-quality international events”, said the director of the local Organizing Committee, Ari Tamiwara.
Let us remind you that Finland once hosted the group stage of the European Championship in 2017, and the capital was Helsinki.
Tampere joined Latvia’s Riga and Cyprus’s Limassol, who will host one group of European competitions. The fourth city will be in Poland, and the location will be known on March 17 when FIBA Europe approves it.
