Arsenal Women FC have been crowned winners of the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, following a dramatic final against SC Corinthians at the Arsenal Stadium in London.
The historic decider brought together the reigning champions of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the CONMEBOL Libertadores in a landmark meeting for women’s club football. After a closely contested match that remained undecided at the end of normal time, Arsenal secured a 3-2 victory in extra time to lift the trophy and become the first holders of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup title.
Earlier in the day, Gotham FC claimed the third place medal with a 4-0 win over Moroccan side ASFAR in the play off match. The result ensured a podium finish for the North American club in a tournament that featured elite teams from across the world.
The final took place in front of a large crowd in London, with fans witnessing high level performances from some of the leading players in the global women’s game. FIFA President Gianni Infantino was among the guests in attendance and joined other dignitaries in congratulating the medal winners after the conclusion of the matches.
In addition to the trophy, the competition also set a new benchmark for prize money in women’s club football. The winners of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™ receive USD 2.3 million, while the runners up earn USD 1 million.
The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup brings together leading clubs from all six confederations to compete for the title of Intercontinental Champions. Arsenal will now hold this title for the 2026 season.
Beyond the action on the pitch, the tournament also supports the long term development of the women’s game. Alongside the matches in London, FIFA, the Football Association and the Women’s Super League launched several initiatives aimed at growing women’s football, including a FIFA funded scholarship programme for female coaches in England pursuing the highest coaching qualifications.
The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup will be staged annually in the years between FIFA Women’s Club World Cups. The next edition of the tournament is scheduled for 2027, with host venues and participating clubs to be confirmed.
