Nottingham Forest have parted ways with manager Ange Postecoglou just eight matches into his tenure, following a 3–0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.
The club confirmed the decision on X, stating: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis left his seat during the match at the City Ground, and the announcement regarding Postecoglou’s future came shortly after full-time.
Postecoglou had only been appointed on 9 September, months after his Europa League success with Tottenham. However, the former Australian national team coach failed to secure a win in his first eight games, recording six defeats, prompting the club to act. Forest are now seeking their third manager of the season.
Prior to the Chelsea game, Postecoglou had remained confident, saying in his pre-match press conference on Friday: “If I am given time at a club, it always ends with me and a trophy.”
Sean Dyche, the former Burnley and Everton manager, has been reportedly linked as a potential replacement.
