Sliema Beach Soccer and La Playa de Arena are currently joint leaders of the Malta Beach Soccer League, both sitting on nine points after their first four matches.
The two teams faced each other earlier this week in a double-header. La Playa de Arena won the first encounter 5-4, while Sliema responded with a convincing 5-2 victory in the second match.
Sliema also secured two additional wins, beating ESS Santa Margherita 7-2 and W/A Agency 8-2.
In a thrilling match, W/A Agency narrowly edged out ESS Santa Margherita with a 6-5 win. Meanwhile, La Playa de Arena were awarded a walkover victory against Santa Margherita.
This weekend, Ħamrun return to league action after their commitments in the Euro Winners Cup held in Nazaré, Portugal. The Reds face two key matches: against Sliema tomorrow and La Playa de Arena on Sunday.
In the meantime, it has been confirmed that ESS Santa Margherita have withdrawn from this year’s competition.
