Following their historic first victory in Division B, the Malta Beach Soccer national team suffered a 6–2 defeat to Romania, in their second match at the 2025 Euro Beach Soccer League Stage 3.
In a fast-paced encounter at the Stabia Beach Arena, Romania took control from the outset. The Romanian goalkeeper Andrei Paul opened the scoring in the first period, but Daryl Micallef swiftly equalized for Malta in the 2nd minute.
The second period then belonged entirely to the Romanian side. Defender Maci struck four goals in a devastating burst—netting in the 1st, 6th, 7th, and 10th minutes to give Romania a commanding lead heading into the final period.

Malta responded in the third period with a late strike from Lee Joe Schembri, but Romania sealed the match when Andrescu scored to make it 6–2 before the final whistle.
Earlier, Malta could have reduced the score but Karl Caruana’s penalty went wide.
Malta will conclude their pool play on Sunday, July 27 at 11:15 local time, facing Kazakhstan in their final Euro Beach Soccer League fixture in Castellammare di Stabia.
