Bank of Valletta proudly celebrated the exceptional performances of Malta’s leading basketball athletes during November 2025 through the presentation of the BOV Players of the Month awards.
Jackson Threadgill of Starlites earned the award for the BOV Basketball 1st Division. At 23 years old, the 6’6” swingman is renowned for his defensive versatility and sharp outside shooting. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Appalachian State University, Threadgill boasts over 120 NCAA Division I appearances. In November, he delivered an impressive average of 23.25 points per game, alongside 22 rebounds, 18 assists, and 10 steals across four outings.
Veteran Josephine Diaby added another accolade to her distinguished career, recording the highest field goal percentage for the month at 63% (20/32). Representing Hibernians, Diaby contributed 49 points in three games, while averaging 9.33 rebounds and 3.50 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Aleks Sultana of Starlites Blue dominated the boards, leading with an outstanding 18.50 rebounds per game. Sultana also logged the most time on court, averaging 39.09 minutes per game, and endured the highest number of fouls at five per game. His strong shooting performance further cemented his claim to the award.
The trophies were presented by Mr. Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta, who commended the athletes for their dedication and remarkable achievements. Mr. Agius highlighted the Bank’s commitment to sports as a catalyst for teamwork, discipline, and resilience—values that align closely with BOV’s mission.
The BOV Basketball Player of the Month initiative forms part of the Bank’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility programme, which actively supports sports development across Malta and Gozo.
