The Finnish national basketball team is the first European team to qualify for Mundobasket 2023.
The World Cup will be held in 2023 in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.
On Friday, Finland defeated Estonia with 76:68, on the other hand, the other results went in their favor, so thanks to Slovenia’s defeat of Germany 90:71 and Sweden’s unexpected victory in Israel with 95:83, they confirmed their place in Group J.
Finland has a better head-to-head score with Slovenia and Sweden from the first qualifying window, which guarantees them one of the top three spots in the group, leading to Mundobasket.
The Finns will participate in the World Championship for the second time in the history of the national team. They did it for the first time in 2014 when they were 22nd in Spain.
For now, we have only two Mundobasket participants, after the African selection of Ivory Coast, now Finland has also done it.
