Facundo Campazzo suffered a defeat on his debut in the Euroleague, and because of that, he points out that returning to the strongest European competition does not mean much to him if his team does not win.
“A heavy defeat. We have to improve our game as a team when we are in the lead. When we were leading by 9, 10 points, the offense didn’t really work for us, but there was a good defense. We have to try to stay positive; I think we did everything right, and now we have to think about the next game against Efes”, said Campazzo.
The Argentinian is happy to have finally played in the Euroleague, but…
“I’m happy to be back in the Euroleague, but it means nothing if we don’t win. This is a team sport, and when we win, everyone is happy. Next up is the ABA league on Sunday, then Efes on Friday. We have a lot of things to work on and believe that we can win those games. We have a great team; we have to stick together and play every game as if it were a final.
He once again looked back at the defeat against Bayern and pointed out that the details were decisive, as well as the fact that Red Star played a weaker defense at the end of the match.
“Details, as always. Details bring more wins than losses; we also have to play good defense but also play better in attack. At one point we couldn’t hit a shot; they started hitting threes; we didn’t play good defense; they gained confidence, and we made it possible for them; we had to play better team defense”.
However, Campazzo still believes in TOP 8.
“We don’t need to think about it; we have to go day by day, game by game. We are a great team; we want that, but to get there, you have to improve every day, be better after every practice, be better after every game. This match was a good challenge for us. We didn’t succeed, but we have to think about the next thing,” concluded Campazzo.
