The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta’s nominated delegates, Rita Azzopardi, Peter Balzan, and Mario Dalli, along with referee Massimo Angilleri, participated in a three-day educational clinic in Zagreb, Croatia, from September 6th to 8th, 2024.
This clinic was particularly significant due to the new structure of the European Aquatics (EA) water polo rules and the updated composition of the EA Technical Water Polo Committee (TWPC), where ASA President Karl Izzo serves as Vice Chairperson. It also addressed the Delegates and Referees Commission (EA DRC) and the pool of registered candidates for water polo delegates who will be assigned to games on the EA water polo calendar.
The event attracted over 60 delegates and referees in Zagreb, with an additional 179 participants joining online, including four international Maltese referees: Alex DeRaffaele, Stefan Licari, Richard Magri, and Neville Mercieca.

Throughout the three days, there were in-depth discussions on the rules and the code of ethics.
The clinic concluded with a theoretical test for all proposed delegates and referees for the 2024/25 season.
All Maltese delegates and referees successfully passed the examination.
