The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta (ASA) has strengthened its commitment to world-class aquatic sport technology by signing a three-year maintenance contract with Alternative Technologies Ltd for the Swiss Timing system recently installed at the Cottonera Indoor Pool.
The signing was formalised by Karl Izzo, President of the ASA, and Mario Cachia, CEO of Alternative Technologies Ltd, the local representatives for Swiss Timing systems. The system, approved by World Aquatics, is designed to support both swimming and water polo competitions and integrates seamlessly with the scoreboard video wall, also provided and installed by Alternative Technologies.
During the same event, Alternative Technologies presented the ASA with a sponsored three-year service contract for the swimming timing equipment at the National Pool in Tal-Qroqq. The contract includes the necessary licences for the Sport In The Box solution, recently acquired by the ASA to enhance services at the venue.
These contracts ensure regular servicing and calibration of the equipment at both national facilities, supporting swimming at Tal-Qroqq and swimming and water polo at Cottonera. The initiative reinforces the long-standing partnership between the ASA and Alternative Technologies, ensuring that local athletes compete on the most accurate and reliable timing systems available.
The agreement aligns with the ASA’s vision to elevate swimming and water polo in Malta by integrating cutting-edge technology and maintaining international standards in timing and scoring. It demonstrates a continued investment in infrastructure that supports both local and international competitions and contributes to the growth of aquatic sports on the island.
