Tsittsipas wins third Montecarlo Masters after a long absence from the top

Tennis – ATP 1000

Stefanos Tsitsipas clinched the Monte-Carlo Masters title for the third time in a surprise win over Norwegian Caspar Ruud in Sunday’s final. Earlier, the Greek star who was a former Number 3 in the world managed to beat in form Yannick Sinner in a stunning semi-final upset.

The Greek star dropped just one set through the tournament, which culminated in the 6-1 6-4 win over Casper Ruud in Sunday’s final. It also marked the first time in six years that Tsitsipas defeated three top-10 players at a single event.

Ruud – who has now lost six of six finals across the ATP Masters 1000, ATP Finals and Grand Slams was unable to cope with his opponent in a match that lasted 97 minutes. The Norwegian managed to defeat World Number 1 Novak Djokovic in his semi final but was a shadow of himself against Tsitsipas losing in straight sets.
