Elina Svitolina showed great determination as she came back from the edge of defeat to beat last year’s finalist, Jasmine Paolini, 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-1 and reach the French Open quarter-finals after a very exciting match on Sunday.
It wasn’t easy for Svitolina, who had to save three match points in the second set before forcing a third. She then stepped up her game and secured a place in the last eight, where she will face either 12th seed Elena Rybakina or defending champion Iga Swiatek.
