Holger Rune has added a new fitness trainer, Marco Panichi, to his team ahead of the US Open. This was confirmed by Rune’s mother and manager, Aneke, in an interview with bt.dk.
Aneke said Panichi brings a lot of experience, not just with fitness but also in helping players win Grand Slams, which raises the team’s standards. Panichi is well known for working with Novak Djokovic until 2024, and then with Jannik Sinner until just before Wimbledon this year.
Sinner ended his partnership with Panichi and his physiotherapist because he wanted to try something different.

Panichi will officially start working with Rune at the Cincinnati Masters next month. This will not affect Rune’s current coach, Lars Christensen.
Aneke added that they have a good relationship with Panichi, who likes Holger and is a great addition to the team. Panichi’s style of working fits well with what they want for Rune’s fitness and training.
Rune, who sometimes struggles in tough matches, will begin the North American hardcourt season at the ATP tournament in Washington.
