Malta’s women’s national team concluded their UEFA Nations League C Group 2 commitments with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Andorra at La Massana on Tuesday evening.
Despite multiple efforts on goal, both sides failed to find a breakthrough in a match defined by midfield battles and resilient defending. Malta came closest through Lexine Farrugia and Kailey Willis, while Andorra struck the woodwork via Maria Ruzafa in the second half.
The match featured a total of seven substitutions from the Maltese side, as coach Manuela Tesse made full use of his squad. Maya Cachia and Nicole Sciberras were introduced at the interval, while Lexine Farrugia and Fiona Buttigieg also saw action in the second half.
Malta had several chances in stoppage time, including a late attempt from Bajada and a direct free-kick by Rachel Cuschieri, but Andorra’s goalkeeper Martin stood firm.
With the draw, Malta end their group stage campaign with a point away from home, with 13 points advancing to League B of the Womens Nations League
