Gżira United Veterans claimed the VMFA Super Cup in a dramatic encounter, defeating the Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) 5-4 at the Mediterranean College of Sports in Birkirkara.

The match was a captivating spectacle, with Gżira dominating the first half and racing to a 4-1 lead. However, the MFPA mounted a spirited comeback to level the score at 4-4, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish. In the end, it was Gżira who secured victory with a late, decisive goal.
The Maroons’ hero was Ian Zammit, who scored twice, with further goals from Daniel Mariano Bueno, Kevin Sammut, and new signing Sebastian Nayar sealing the win. The MFPA remained competitive throughout, with goals from Gareth Sciberras, Mark Barbara, Alexandar Ribic, and Manuel Sevasta keeping them in contention.
After the match, Timmy Zammit, a representative of KT Services, presented the trophy to Gżira United captain Jonathan Pearson, marking a moment of celebration for the team.
This victory represents the third consecutive time that Gżira United Veterans have won the VMFA Super Cup, underlining their dominance in the competition.
