Flyers secure 2nd consecutive victory in the John Bugeja Cup

The Flyers continued their strong start in the John Bugeja Cup, claiming their second consecutive win after defeating Birkirkara 3–1 at the Cottonera Sports Complex.

Birkirkara made a fast start, taking the opening set 25–21, but Flyers responded with confidence, levelling the match by securing the second set 25–18. The contest remained evenly poised, with both sides displaying solid defence and consistent serving. However, Flyers showed greater composure in the closing stages, edging the third set 26–24 before sealing the victory with a 25–22 result in the fourth.

This latest success builds on Flyers’ earlier win over Paola Executive Security the previous weekend, another closely contested encounter that demonstrated the team’s resilience and teamwork.

The John Bugeja Cup continues next weekend, with Flyers set to face Swieqi Phoenix Nium, while Paola Executive Security will meet Birkirkara.

In other results, Depiro defeated Birkirkara 3–0 in the U19 League, while Paola Cool and Kiwi overcame Flyers 3–1. In the U17 League, Depiro beat Flyers 3–0, and Birkirkara Thunderspikes earned a 3–1 victory over Paola Maypole.

The results highlight the growing competitiveness across Malta’s volleyball scene, as clubs continue to build depth and showcase promising young talent.
