Malta’s future bowling champions are currently locking horns in a series of six crucial tournaments at The SuperBowl at The Eden, aiming to secure their spots in the national team for the European Youth Championships slated for April 2025.
These young under-18 talents must not only outperform their peers but also meet stringent qualifying standards to represent Malta on this prestigious platform.
After the completion of the first two rounds, the competition has seen some exceptional performances. Kayden Lagana is currently leading the boys’ category with an impressive 212 average, highlighted by a remarkable score of 277 in one game, the highest recorded in youth competition at the newly revamped SuperBowl, which has transitioned to String Pin bowling. This significant change has reset previous records, adding an extra layer of challenge for the participants.
Trailing Lagana is Travis Barbara, who holds a solid 199 average. Nicolai Mallia and Julian Baldacchino are also in contention, with scores of 183 and 177 respectively, showcasing the depth of talent in the boys’ field.
On the girls’ side, Karlise Bartolo is setting the pace with a 150 average over ten games. She is closely followed by Celianne Micallef, Jade Barbara, and Charlize Bartolo, each vying to clinch a top spot and advance their potential international bowling careers.
The next event is eagerly awaited and is scheduled for November 30th. The remaining three rounds will take place after the Christmas break, which promises to deliver more thrilling bowling action as these young athletes push towards their goal of representing Malta in Europe.
As the trials progress, the Malta Bowling Association continues to monitor and support these young talents, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, skill development, and competitive spirit in grooming the next generation of international bowling stars.
