Two Maltese junior athletes recently represented Malta in the Skeet and Trap Individual Events at the ISSF Junior World Cup held in Suhl, Germany.

Trap shooter Ryan Bugeja delivered a strong performance, finishing 18th overall. He registered scores of 23, 23, 24, 22, and 24 out of 25 across five rounds, totaling 116 out of 125 — just two targets shy of qualifying for the shoot-off leading to the finals.

Andre Cassar, competing in the Skeet event, achieved scores of 22, 22, 21, 21, and 21 for a total of 107 out of 125.

In the Skeet Men’s event, Finland’s Lassi Akseli Matias Kauppinen claimed the gold medal, scoring 122/125 in the qualification round and 57/60 in the final. A highlight of the competition was the world record-equalling performance by Italy’s Marco Coco, who shot a perfect 125/125 in qualification.

In the Trap Men’s event, Italy’s Fabrizio Fisichella secured the gold medal with an impressive 123/125 in qualification and 42/50 in the final.

Team Malta was supported by Sinclair Cassar (Team Official), Bruno Gubellini (Skeet Coach), and Aldo Falzon (Trap Coach).

The next international engagement for the team will be the Games of the Small States of Europe, taking place in Andorra from 26 May to 1 June 2025.
