MAFA First Division leaders Swieqi Braves didn’t find it easy to beat a mighty Valletta Stars St Dominic side with a single goal scored in the second half. It was a game where the Citizens played very well in the first half as they created several chances in front of Erick Vital’s goal. Despite everything, in the second half Swieqi improved a lot and scored the winning goal. They also found themselves playing with ten men when Lucas dos Santos was sent off after two yellow cards.
The goal that decided the game was scored in the 52nd minute through Italo Santos who beat Sinclair Galea with a header after a Bruno Menezes cross. Referee: Reno Galea. Valletta St Paul’s remained one point below the Braves when they beat old rivals Senglea Gunners 3-2. The St Paul’s outfit had a perfect first half where they created several chances on goal while scoring two goals which gave them a comfortable lead. In the second half, the Cottonera side produced a reaction and reduced the scoring margin twice although it was too late for them to take any point from this encounter. Samuel Dickson and Nenad Stancic gave St Paul’s a double lead with Moses Nwanko reducing the gap for Senglea. Elton da Silva increased the advantage for Valletta St Paul’s again with Senglea scored again on injury time through Peter Khiev. Referee: Peter Abela. In the second division, Ta’ Giorni Wanderers and Attard Edex Kings achieved very important victories that brought them closer to the leaders Għaxaq Wolves. Ta Ġiorni Wanderers beat Zebbug Youngsters with a goal scored by Samuel Barthet in the 26th minute. Ta’ Giorni continued to control the proceedings despite the valiant efforts of Zebbug Youngsters who did not manage to grab the equalizer. Thus, Ta’ Giorni are five points away from Għaxaq Wolves with Zebbuġ who are still in the relegation zone. Referee: Jean Pierre Mifsud. Attard Edex Kings dominated Gudja Wanderers so much that they won with a massive 6-0 scoreline. Attard controlled the game from start to finish with Gudja who suffered quite a bit against the strength of their opponents. Miguel Angel Acevedo scored twice while Felipe Andres, Audu Clement Oshoke, Esteban Ferreira and Jesto Johnson added to the score for Attard Edex Kings. Referee: Gordon Barbara. In the third division, Hamrun Amateurs are two points away from leaders of the table Far Titans after they won 3-0 against Naxxar Victorians. The Red/Blacks made their intentions clear from the start and took the lead with an Andriy Camilleri’s header in the ninth minute. Three minutes later, the Amateurs made them 2-0 as Jacob Camilleri scored from a penalty.
