Nottingham Forest made it to a European semi-final for the first time in 42 years after a tense 1–0 win over FC Porto at the City Ground. They won 2–1 on aggregate after the first leg ended 1–1.
The Europa League has been a welcome break for Forest, who are struggling in the Premier League. The home crowd was lively, knowing the team had a chance to make history.
Porto’s Jan Bednarek was sent off early for a high challenge on Chris Wood, giving Forest a big advantage. Soon after, Forest took the lead when Morgan Gibbs-White’s shot took a deflection and went past the goalkeeper.
Forest had chances to score more, but couldn’t take them. Chris Wood had to go off injured after the earlier foul. His replacement, Igor Jesus, looked dangerous but couldn’t score.
In the second half, Porto came close, hitting the crossbar twice, but couldn’t find a goal. Forest also created chances, but the match remained tight.

In the end, Forest held on to win and move into the semi-finals. They will now face Aston Villa in an all-Premier League clash.
Porto are knocked out and still haven’t managed to beat an English team away from home.
