Memorandum of cooperation signed between the Maltese and Croatian Olympic Committees

At a ceremony at the Maltese Olympic Committee Headquarters, the Presidents of the Maltese Olympic Committee, Julian Pace Bonello and Croatian Olympic Committee, Zlatko Mateša signed a Memorandum of Cooperation formalizing the start of bilateral collaboration.

The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation establishes a legal framework for the exchange of coaches, athletes, and experts, as well as the sharing of professional knowledge and experience between the two Olympic communities. Cooperation will include joint training camps, sports medicine and science projects, and youth athlete development programmes.

This cooperation holds particular importance for strengthening sporting and friendly ties between Malta and Croatia, promoting long-term collaboration, and enabling joint investment in the development of sport and talented athletes, further fostering Olympic solidarity and mutual learning.

MOC President Julian Pace Bonello remarked that  “The partnership with the Croatian Olympic Committee through the Memorandum of Cooperation provides us with opportunities for growth and development through joint projects and knowledge exchange. This partnership is an investment in the future of our athletes and sport in general, as well as an important foundation for strengthening relations between our committees and promoting positive sporting values and friendly ties between Croatia and Malta.”

COC President Zlatko Mateša added that  “With this Memorandum of Cooperation, we reinforce our shared vision of creating better conditions for our athletes and strengthening the Olympic movement. I believe this is just the first step toward numerous concrete activities that will bring real benefits to our athletes. The cooperation also further strengthens the friendly relations of our committees and is of great significance for the development of sport in both countries, contributing to increased mutual trust and collaboration between our national Olympic committees.”

The signing follows a successful 45th EOC Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum which took in place in Malta and was attended by presidents and representatives of European Olympic Committees.
