Xewkija Tigers FC surged to the top of the GFA BOV Gozo Football League 1st Division table with a dominant 5-1 win over Xagħra United FC on Matchday 4 at the Gozo Stadium.

The Tigers wasted no time asserting their authority, with Brian Alejandro Parada converting a penalty in the 3rd minute. Claudio Daniel Frances doubled the lead ten minutes later, but Xagħra briefly rallied through Lucas Farrugia’s goal in the 35th minute. Xewkija, however, pulled away in the second half with strikes from Angel Manuel Bustos (51’), Denzil Bugeja (71’), and Julian Farrugia (78’) to seal an emphatic victory and move to 10 points after four games.

Later in the day, Nadur Youngsters FC claimed a dramatic 1-0 win over Qala Saints FC in a tense, fiery encounter also played at the Gozo Stadium. Both sides were reduced to 10 men in the second half, with Qala’s Nathan Chukwudi Njoku dismissed in the 52nd minute, followed by Nadur’s Joseph Xerri in the 73rd. With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Nadur were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time, and Diego Fernando Rodriguez Angulo made no mistake from the spot to hand his side a vital first win of the season.
