End of Preliminary Round in the Women’s sector and key week in the Men’s leagues

The preliminary round ahead of the play-offs in the women’s sector came to an end with three matches confirming the strength of several teams as the decisive phase of the season approaches.

In the Enemed Women’s Futsal League, St. George’s Futsal secured a comfortable 6-0 win over St. Andrews Futsal, maintaining second place ahead of Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus, who suffered a 4-0 defeat against leaders Zero Sei Futsal. 

Swieqi United Futsal LEC07 also recorded an important 5-1 victory over Parr Mela Rockets Futsal.

The final standings after 10 matches see Zero Sei Futsal top with 28 points, followed by St. George’s Futsal on 20 points, Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus on 19, and Swieqi United Futsal LEC07 on 13 points.

These four teams have qualified for the play-offs, which will ultimately determine this season’s champions.Meanwhile, in the Enemed Women’s Futsal Trophy preliminary round, Swieqi United Futsal LEC07 defeated St. Andrews Futsal 4-1, while Zero Sei Futsal overcame Parr Mela Rockets Futsal 6-4 to book their place in the semi-finals.

In the Men Challenger Futsal League, Futsal Selection U19 claimed a crucial 3-2 win over Futsal Selection U17 in a tightly contested encounter, strengthening their hold on first place. 

In the other fixture, Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness defeated Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal 6-4 to move level on points with them.

After 10 matches, Futsal Selection U19 lead the table with 12 points, followed by Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness and Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal on 7 points each, while Futsal Selection U17 sit fourth with 3 points.

In the Premier Futsal League, two convincing victories stood out. Leaders Luxol St. Andrews Futsal beat Marsaskala Futsal Legends 6-2 to maintain their unbeaten run in the league. 

Meanwhile, GZR Birzebbuga St. Peter’s Futsal registered an emphatic 11-3 win over Zejtun Corinthians Futsal WA, with Diaz Montanez netting six goals.

The current standings show Luxol St. Andrews Futsal top with 30 points from 10 matches, followed by University of Malta Futsal on 24 points, GZR Birzebbuga St. Peter’s Futsal and Marsaskala Futsal Legends on 18 points, and Zejtun Corinthians Futsal WA on 12 points.

It is also worth noting that Futsal Selection defeated Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal 4-2 in the preliminary round of the Laferla Futsal Trophy to advance to the quarter-finals.
