The latest round of matches in the FMA Enemed Futsal League produced plenty of goals and excitement, including the first defeat of league leaders University of Malta Futsal, who lost to Luxol St. Andrews Futsal in a thrilling match.
GŻR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal claimed a big 9-2 win against Futsal Selection U17. The game was almost decided by half-time, with Birżebbuġa already 7-0 up.
Futsal Selection U19 also enjoyed a strong performance, beating Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness 5-1. This important win moved them up to six points and above Sliema in the league table.
Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA were also in top form, recording a dominant 12-2 victory over Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal. Abuaisha Nezar Fawzi was the star of the match, scoring six goals to help Żejtun stay inside the top five.
The main match of the round saw Luxol St. Andrews Futsal end the unbeaten run of champions University of Malta Futsal with a 5-3 win. University of Malta took the lead through Elmari Mohamed Abdussalam, but Luxol quickly replied with an equaliser from Negreiros Rosas Murad Luiz Henrique. Cruz Gutiérrez Roller Santiago and Raducu Emil Andrei then put University of Malta 3-1 ahead. Just before half-time, Sant’Anna Coriolano Leanderson pulled a goal back to make it 3-2.
Luxol were stronger in the second half. Maicon equalised, before Sant’Anna Coriolano Leanderson scored again to give Luxol the lead. In the final seconds, Maicon sealed the win with a goal into an empty net as University of Malta pushed forward for an equaliser.
After these matches, University of Malta Futsal remain top of the table with 18 points from seven games.
