Sannat Lions move to second place

Sannat Lions FC secured an important point in their latest fixture against Munxar Falcons FC, drawing 1-1 at the Kercem Stadium on Saturday, January 18, 2025. The result sees them climb to second place in the GFA BOV Gozo Football League 2nd Division standings.

The match started with Munxar Falcons taking an early lead in the 10th minute through Luke Meilak. However, Sannat Lions responded quickly, with Aud-Gustine James Obaje equalizing in the 20th minute. Munxar had a golden opportunity to reclaim the lead in the 43rd minute, but Neil Mifsud’s penalty was missed, keeping the score level at halftime.

In another fixture from Matchday 8, Zebbug Rovers FC and Gharb Rangers FC played out an entertaining 3-3 draw. Baldwin Osayi Igbinobaro scored twice for Gharb Rangers, while Andrew Chukwuwinke Ofulue secured the draw for Zebbug Rovers.

With this result, Sannat Lions now have 13 points from eight matches, overtaking St Lawrence Spurs FC, who sit in third place with 12 points. Kercem Ajax FC continue to dominate the standings with a perfect record of 24 points from eight matches.
