Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport hosts National Sport Forum 2026
The Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport has successfully hosted the National Sport Forum 2026, held over two days on the 17th and 18th April, bringing together key stakeholders from across Malta’s sporting landscape to discuss governance, integrity, and the future of safe sport.
The Forum was opened by the Chairman of AiMS, Judge Antonio Mizzi, who emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding integrity across all levels of sport. He highlighted the critical role of national governing bodies, clubs, and administrators in upholding transparency, accountability, and ethical standards.
The attendees were then addressed by the Chief Executive Officer of AiMS Kevin Azzopardi as he delivered a keynote session titled “From Vision to Reality – the AiMS story so far”, Mr Azzopardi’s presentation outlined the Authority’s progress, achievements, and long-term vision in strengthening integrity structures within Maltese sport.

Participants then engaged in interactive group sessions focusing on three core thematic areas: governance gaps and regulatory challenges, anti-doping and anti-match fixing frameworks, and the continued development of safe sport practices. These discussions were led by subject-matter experts including Dr. Sihon Gauci (Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs), Dr. Sandro Camilleri (Director of Integrity), and Andy Grech (Director of Education & Research).
The programme included additional group work sessions, a networking break, and summary reports presented by rapporteurs, capturing key insights and recommendations emerging from the respective focus groups.
The event concluded with closing remarks by AiMS’ CEO summarizing the key outcomes and reaffirming AiMS’ commitment to continued engagement with stakeholders.
As part of its ongoing outreach efforts, AiMS announced that its staff will be organizing a similar session in Gozo this Saturday, aimed specifically at engaging Gozitan Sports Associations and Clubs. This initiative forms part of the Authority’s broader strategy to ensure that its message, resources, and support systems reach all corners of the Maltese sporting community.
The Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport thanks all participants for their valuable contributions and looks forward to building on the momentum generated during the National Sport Forum 2026.
