The GFA Knock-Out 1st Division quarter-finals delivered two dramatic encounters at the Kercem Stadium on Sunday, with Xewkija Tigers and Kercem Ajax securing their places in the semi-finals after matches that stretched beyond the regular 90 minutes.
In the opening quarter-final, Xewkija Tigers FC defeated Ghajnsielem FC 4–3 after extra time at the end of a pulsating contest that swung repeatedly between the two sides. Ghajnsielem twice held the lead, yet Xewkija showed remarkable resilience, equalising late in normal time and then overturning another deficit during extra time. The match was packed with intensity, momentum shifts and high drama, with both teams refusing to give an inch. Ultimately, Xewkija held firm in the dying stages to book their place in the next round after a memorable seven-goal battle.

The second quarter-final was no less competitive, as Kercem Ajax FC advanced at the expense of Xagħra United FC, winning 4–2 on penalties after the match ended 1–1 after extra time. Both sides produced a tightly contested affair, with neither able to find a breakthrough during the extended period. In the shoot-out, Kercem Ajax kept their composure from the spot, converting confidently while Xagħra faltered at key moments.
