Luxembourg and Cyprus to host 2029 and 2031 GSSE Editions
Malta’s national water polo team will be looking to make a strong impression at the 2027 Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE), as the sport is set to make its debut at the event in Monaco.
The inclusion of water polo was confirmed during the GSSE General Assembly, held this morning in Andorra, where representatives from the nine participating nations—Andorra, Malta, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Montenegro and San Marino—agreed on the final list of disciplines for the 2027 edition.
The Monaco 2027 Games are expected to take place in the first week of May.
The confirmed sports for the 2027 GSSE include: athletics, judo, swimming, table tennis, tennis, indoor shooting, archery, basketball 3×3, rugby 7s, volleyball, beach volleyball, water polo, artistic gymnastics, sailing and bowls.
The Assembly also confirmed that Luxembourg will host the 2029 edition. The provisional sports programme includes: athletics, swimming, judo, shooting, table tennis, tennis, basketball 5×5, basketball 3×3, volleyball, beach volleyball, badminton, road cycling (with track cycling under consideration), artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and karate.
In addition, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Cyprus has been selected to host the 2031 Games in the island of Cyprus.
