Zero Sei slip as Santa Venera celebrate first points of the season

The futsal season continued with another tense and exciting week. In the women’s league, Zero Sei Futsal dropped their first points of the season, while Santa Venera Lightnings earned their first point in a dramatic match decided in the final moments.

In the men’s league, Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal picked up their first point after a 3–3 draw with Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness. The equaliser came in the last second from Colombian player Jimenez Martinez Jonathan Jose. It was a big result for Santa Venera, while Sliema’s hopes of staying in the top five took a hit.

GŻR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal went level at the top with University of Malta Futsal after a strong 5–0 win over Futsal Selection U19. They controlled the match mainly in the second half, with five different players scoring, four of them after the break.

Luxol St. Andrews Futsal continued their good run with a 3–2 victory over Marsaskala Futsal Legends. Luxol were 3–0 ahead but had to resist heavy pressure as Marsaskala almost completed a full comeback. Meanwhile, Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA beat Futsal Selection U17 10–5, helped by a hat-trick from Abuaisha Nezar Fawzi.

After Matchweek 5 in the men’s standings, University of Malta Futsal are top with 12 points, together with GŻR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal who also have 12. Luxol St. Andrews Futsal are third with 9 points, followed by Marsaskala Futsal Legends and Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA, also on 9. Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness sit in sixth place with 4 points, while Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal have 1 point. At the bottom, Futsal Selection U19 and U17 are still without points.

In the women’s league, Zero Sei Futsal stay top despite dropping their first points in a 2–2 draw with Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus. Jasmine Vella Turner shone for Luxol, scoring both goals.

Swieqi United Futsal LEC07 beat Parr Mela Rockets Futsal 5–3 after taking an early lead. Parr Mela tried to respond but could not score enough to claim their first points. St George’s Futsal enjoyed a comfortable 4–0 win over St Andrews Futsal, scoring twice in each half.

After the first round of fixtures, Zero Sei Futsal lead the women’s standings with 13 points. Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus and St George’s Futsal follow with 10 points each. Swieqi United Futsal LEC07 are fourth with 7 points, St Andrews Futsal have 3, and Parr Mela Rockets Futsal remain bottom with no points.
