Hibernians edged Balzan 1-0 in a 360Sports Malta Premier Opening Round clash at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Friday.
The victory puts Hibernians level with Floriana on 20 points, one ahead of Sliema Wanderers, while Balzan remain joint-third from bottom with eight points.
Despite suffering their sixth loss in ten matches, Balzan were unlucky to leave empty-handed after creating better chances throughout most of the game.
The decisive goal came on 70 minutes when Kleiton’s cross from the left found Silas Hamanojda, who exchanged passes with Bjorn Kristensen before setting up substitute Miullen. The latter calmly slotted the ball past goalkeeper Danilo Golovic to secure the win for Hibernians.
