Mosta………..…………………..2
Ħamrun Spartans……………1

Few would have predicted it beforehand, but Mosta thoroughly deserved their 2-1 victory over Ħamrun Spartans at the National Stadium. It was Mosta’s only win of the Closing Round, whilst Ħamrun suffered their first defeat in 13 league games.

Mosta broke the deadlock on 43 minutes when Nevin Portelli latched onto a clever long pass from Jake Vassallo over the Ħamrun defence and coolly slotted past Bonello to make it 1-0.

Mosta doubled their lead on 66 minutes from the penalty spot. Ryan Camenzuli was adjudged to have fouled Portelli inside the box, and the striker stepped up to convert the penalty with confidence, making it 2–0.

Ħamrun pulled one back on 76 minutes when substitute Kleri Serber whipped in a cross for fellow substitute Blessing Eleke, who finished it off to make it 2-1.

Despite sustained Ħamrun pressure and eight minutes of stoppage time, Mosta held firm to secure a famous and well-earned victory.
