Gżira United returned to winning ways and got their YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round campaign off to a perfect start with a convincing 3-0 victory over Marsaxlokk. Undoubtedly, the hero of the day was Maxuell Maia, who netted a superb hat-trick.
Maia opened the scoring after 16 minutes, rising highest to head past Calleja Cremona from a corner. The Brazilian doubled his tally on the half-hour mark, once again finding the net with a header, as Gżira went into the break with a 2–0 lead.
Gżira maintained control after the interval and sealed the win in the 71st minute when Maxuell Maia completed his hat-trick with a delightful lob, putting the result beyond doubt.
