Ħamrun Spartans have completed the signing of Lithuanian international Domantas Šimkus from FA Šiauliai, marking a significant addition to their midfield ahead of the 2025/26 season. The 28-year-old arrives with a strong reputation built across various European leagues and brings with him over 30 caps for the Lithuanian national team.
Šimkus has enjoyed a diverse and well-travelled career, having played in Lithuania, Denmark, Israel, Azerbaijan, and Slovenia. A product of the LFF Akademija, he moved abroad early in his development, joining Danish side Aalborg BK’s youth setup in 2013. After returning to Lithuania with Atlantas, he went on to represent Žalgiris, one of the country’s most prominent clubs. His performances there opened the door for moves abroad, where he tested himself in increasingly competitive environments, including stints with Hapoel Kfar Saba in Israel, FK Sabail in Azerbaijan, and NS Mura in Slovenia.

Most recently, Šimkus was a key figure at FA Šiauliai, where his leadership and composure in midfield stood out. His game is built on vision, positioning, and the ability to control tempo, making him a valuable asset in both possession-based and counter-attacking systems. Known for his intelligence on the ball and consistent work rate, Šimkus is expected to strengthen the Spartans’ midfield depth and bring added maturity to the team.
