Ħamrun Spartans have parted company with Brazilian winger Talison Barbosa and Croatian forward Mihael Klepac, as they prepare for next season and their UEFA Champions League qualifiers 2025/26
Both players played a part in helping the Spartans secure their 11th Premier League title. However, the club has opted not to renew their contracts as part of changes to their foreign lineup.
Talison, who joined at the start of the season, impressed during the Super Cup win in December but saw limited action towards the end of the campaign. Klepac, signed in January, also struggled for regular game time.
Times of Malta has today reported that the Spartans are now actively seeking new foreign talent to strengthen the squad ahead of their European campaign.
The Malta Champions are also evaluating the possibility to negotiate a new contract with coach Winston Muscat as the Malta coach had a signed only a short term contract with the Clun till end May 2025 when he took over from Alessandro Zinnari who was sacked on 9th March.
