In the first match on Saturday from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round at the National Stadium, Żabbar St. Patrick, led by Valletta legend Gilbert Agius, produced an excellent performance to beat Birkirkara 3-0 and move out of the bottom two places.
This was Agius’ third game in charge. So far, the Saints remain unbeaten under him, with two draws against Ħamrun and Valletta, followed by this impressive win over the Stripes.
Żabbar took the lead in the 38th minute through Argentine forward Pedro Cejas, going into half-time 1-0 ahead.
Agius’ men stayed focused in the second half and doubled their lead in the 58th minute when another Argentine, Brian Gambarte found the net. For Birkirkara things got worse when captain Alessandro Coppola was sent off.
Just four minutes later, Żabbar sealed the victory with Pedro Cejas scoring again to make it 3-0, securing their first win of the closing round for Żabbar.
