Birkirkara and Gżira United played out a goalless draw in a tight and competitive match at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
Gżira went close early on when Clayton Failla’s free kick forced two saves from goalkeeper Miguel Martinez. Soon after, Failla picked up a yellow card for a rough challenge.
Birkirkara had a chance just before half-time when Kemar Reid’s header went just wide. In added time, Reid tried again, but Failla cleared his shot off the line.
In the second half, both teams had half-chances. Birkirkara’s Dimech set up Morello, who shot wide, while Maia and Virgens linked up for Gżira, but the shot missed the target.
Both sides pushed for a winner, but solid defending meant the points were shared.
