After nine games in the YoHealth Malta Premier League, Valletta are still the only unbeaten team. Today at the Tony Bezzina Stadium, they beat Hibernians 1-0, overcoming a tough challenge on their opponents’ ground.
Before the match, former Valletta defender Louise Pace, who passed away earlier this week, was remembered.
Valletta dominated the first half and took the lead in the 38th minute. Thaylor Aldama capitalised on a defensive mistake and finished past Hugo Sacco.
Hibernians improved in the second half and had more control, but they could not break through Valletta’s defence or trouble goalkeeper Maringa. The match ended 1-0 to Valletta.
This win was Valletta’s sixth of the season as they now sit top of the table with 21 points, continuing their perfect start under Thane Micallef.
This was Hibernians’ third consecutive loss and even the third time without scoring a single goal.
