Tottenham manager Antonio Conte confirmed today that eight players and five members of the club’s support staff are positive for the coronavirus.
It was confirmed yesterday that one of the infected is Mateo Kovačić, but the number is still growing, so today Tottenham is in a much bigger problem.
– Every day we have more and more positive ones. We are all a little scared, we all have families. My question is why we have to find ourselves in such a risky situation, said Conte.
– Two today, and who tomorrow? Me? I don’t know… It’s better for me to get infected than one of the players, that’s for sure, but I don’t think it’s okay for anyone to be. We were all in contact with members of our families, Conte added.
–It is impossible to talk about football today. This situation upsets me a lot because it is very serious. We have a major infection.
Tottenham will play against Rennes in the Conference League tomorrow, but some media state that the postponement of the match against Brighton on Sunday is being considered.
– We are preparing for the match with Rennes, but it is really difficult for us. All this upsets me. I’m here to talk about football, about my players, and about the atmosphere I want to see tomorrow. Instead, we sit here and talk about COVID, he added at the end, noting that the medical staff takes care of everything as well as who is vaccinated and who is not.
